Darryle, I read your blog this morning almost right out of bed, before reading the newspaper, before remembering 9/11 and the tragedy of that day and the many resulting tragedies since...

What a beautiful tribute to an amazing woman. Hearing her stroy, seeing her face, thinking about her, her daughters and family and friends makes the pain more intimate and brings 9/11 into sharp focus in my mind, heart and soul - which feels right and necessary for today, so thank you.

Darryle, beautiful tribute to a special woman. My heart broke reading your blog and I thank you for making this anniversary so much more real.

Strange that I finally got around to commenting on your blog today but please know I am loving your writing, insights, humor, and intelligence - I am getting to know you better in these last few months than I have in all the years we have lived in the same town. You really give me hope that one day I may move past the busyness and confines of family life to soar to my own new heights just as you have. Until then, thanks for the peek into your brilliant heart and mind.

Darryle, you are a warm, beautiful soul with a special family and, it seems, really special friends. You are the embodiment of the adage that "You get only as good as you give out". My quote may not be 100% accurate but my sense tells me that I am dead-on about you: You are very generously loved because you love generously. Marcella would be enormously proud of the woman that you have become (my guess is that you are a lot like her) and, believe me, she knows. Thank you, again, for allowing me and your other faithful bloggers to share in your warmth and beauty.

I'm glad there was a way for Carolyn and her story to be appreciated by people who never knew her. Thanks to each of you for your words and thoughts...which although appreciated, are way too flattering.

I came over from Jane's site. Your post is a wonderful tribute to your friend.

  • I started this blog in honor of all the times I've said: "I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR THIS" in the course of my life as a mother, breast cancer survivor, artist and TV journalist. My goal is to share the big and little things we all care about-- hopefully with humanity and humor. ------- DARRYLE POLLACK
